peak district walks

46. Milthorpe, Shilitoo wood and Holmesfield peak district walk

47. Whatstandwill, Crich and Ambergate. 12th march 2014.

Parking at Whatstandwell station we ventured over the station bridge north to until the path on the right to wakesbridge then north skirting the quarry clockwise then dropping down to the monument. On into crich then at the main junction taking Bowns hill to the Black swan where we met Ruby who was very friendly and sat on my foot for a while until she got bored and moved back to her regular postion in the bar.Taking the B5035 from the crossroads up the hill then take the Torrs path south meeting up with a lane, turning right then left after a short distance taking the path between the chase and bilberrry wood to Ambergate ( sounds like beer to me!) and the Hurt arms, a large establishment for a taste of the amber nectar. Heading south on the a6 then taking the next turn on the right( holly lane by the church) the basically taking the path that follows the river derwent north and back to withstandwell.
