42. Dane Bridge, Rushton Spencer peak district walk

42. Dane Bridge, Rushton Spencer 4th February 2014.

Parking on the road near the Ship Inn at Danebridge we headed south east along the river Dane eventually to a meeting of paths, the Dane Valley Way and the Gritstone Trail. Sticking to same direction along the Gritstone Trail , continuing along the canal side passing behind the Rushton Inn which had closed but still has the sign over the door. Taking the path on the right to The Knot Inn for some whistle wetting. Rushton Spencer seemed a bit posh as you might expect having a double barrelled name. From the pub north east over the main road and continue north east following the trail. At the same meetings of paths this time heading north west over Barliegh bridge then north east following the side of Cartlidge Wood taking the path right a couple of fields after the large house then back to Danebridge.
