froggat edge walk map

A beautiful sunny day and plenty of room at the Curbar Gap car park. A very popular area and understandably too looking from the rocks over Calver, Grindleford and beyond. Something we didn’t expect to see on the tops.. a large brown caterpillar in front of us on the path. Dropping down into Grindleford and calling for a pint of the black stuff and a sherry in the William Hill Inn then across the field and back through froggat wood enjoying our butties on a log. Back to Calver along the river, past the mill then more drinks at the Bridge Inn before the steep trek up to Curbar Gap. Thirsty work this walking..it was so hot we had to stop for a lie down and a soak in the hot sun half way up, great views …of the clouds!. In fact that’s usually my cue to stop when I hear Julie say ( breathlessly) ‘ look at that view! ’
